Hi, I'm Lynne
I'm a female driving instructor based in Nairne, and honestly, I love what I do. I teach people to drive, from nervous first-timers through to those brushing up before their test.
Why I teach
I get a real kick out of helping people build confidence behind the wheel. Whether it's a new driver, a jobseeker who needs a licence to get to work, or someone who's moved here from overseas, I'm about raising safe drivers, teaching the next generation, and breaking down the barriers for people who need a bit of extra support to get there.
As a female instructor, patience matters to me, especially with nervous or anxious drivers. Taking the time to go at each person's own pace, rather than rushing anyone through, tends to make a real difference to their confidence. I'm 12 months into instructing and 6 months into running Adelaide Hills Driving School, and I'd rather tell you that plainly than dress it up.
What every lesson comes with
A written summary. Every time. It sets out what we covered and what's worth practising next, so you can apply it with your supervising driver, and so parents and caregivers can keep up with current road rules rather than teaching what they were taught decades ago. Ride-alongs are encouraged too, subject to the student's comfort.
Support past the end of the lesson
The admin around the test trips people up more than the driving does. I find an assessor to suit you, book the VORT on your behalf, run a warm-up lesson beforehand, and provide my car on the day. I'm not an Authorised Examiner, so I don't conduct the test itself, and I don't offer logbook or CBT&A assessments.
Qualifications, checks and cover
Anyone charging a fee to teach you to drive in South Australia must hold a driving instructor's licence issued by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport. Here's everything I hold. Documentation is available on request.

The car you'll learn in
A Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid automatic, fitted with dual brake and accelerator controls and front, rear and in-car cameras. The dual controls mean I can step in if I need to, which most nervous learners find reassuring in the first few lessons. The cameras are there for peace of mind, for students and for parents and caregivers alike.
Local, in the ordinary sense
Adelaide Hills Driving School is based in Nairne, and I'm proud to support local business. I currently sponsor the Littlehampton Netball Club just up the road. It's a small thing, but it's the honest version of being a local business rather than a claim on a website.
